Who We Are:
Overflow is an interdenominational Christian student group at Washington University in St. Louis comprised of students seeking to grow closer to God and intent on loving and serving the campus. We have been an extension of Campus Crusade for Christ at Wash U for over ten years.
Overflow is about 3 things: loving God, loving people and serving the world. Our love is motivated by God's love for us. The ultimate expression of God's love is seen in him sending his son Jesus to live and ultimately die on our behalf. As God's love for us creates in us a love for God we are then compelled to be concerned for the things that he cares most about.
People. God loves people tremendously. This motivates us to put our own interests aside to love one another. It is because of this love that we are committed to walking through life together helping one another understand more and more the depth of God's love.
We also learn from the Bible that God is passionate about restoring our broken world to the way that it was always designed to be before it was polluted by evil. It is for this reason that we find ourselves joining with God's plan in issues of injustice, oppression and poverty--not merely in our own city but around the world as well.
Here are what some of the students are saying:
"Until I got involved in Overflow, I really had no idea what Christian community was all about. I had never experienced the complete acceptance and sense of belonging that came with simply being a part of this group. I now have a network of friends that I can turn to with my problems, or to just hang out with in a positive environment. Being surrounded with loving, Christian peers has been nothing short of life changing. Oh, and they usually have free food..."
"I am encouraged to see other Christians around me who are so passionate about Christ and challenged to fully dedicate my life to God on a daily basis."
